The format: Each session begins by looking at the work you have made since our previous meeting. We then spend time with new exhibitions and artists from around the world, and finish by working from transcription and developing a new project in response. Between sessions, the studio continues as you pursue the work in your own time.

ABOUT DRAWING FROM ART

Drawing from Art began with a travel grant that took me to Europe to look closely at art in museums and galleries and create a show from what I saw. It became part of my artist practice, and I wanted to share that way of looking with other artists.

After the pandemic, I developed Drawing from Art as a virtual class, first sharing exhibitions and artists I was seeing in New York City to student living around the country. As international travel returned, so did the international scope of the class. The format proved unique and effective, and has continued to grow as a way for artists to connect through looking, drawing, and making—without boundaries.

Today, Drawing from Art is a year-round studio for beginners and experienced artists, offered in four seasonal six-week sessions. I curate the artists and exhibitions, lead discussions, and develop drawing projects in response to what we see. Individual drawing instruction is also available to anyone who would like more guidande.
